The Office of Heritage of the Consell de Formentera is pleased to report that the Formentera Research Grant 2022 has been awarded to "El camp de concentració de Formentera", a project presented by Manuel Suárez Salvà.

In the words of Raquel Guasch, heritage councillor, "we have consolidated a €8,500 grant for projects related to the island and to the arts, humanities or social sciences, and that will serve to enrich and document an important part of our history". The councillor held up "the very professional projects" presented in 2022 and noted that they were "ranked highly by the evaluation committee".

"El camp de concentració de Formentera" will deepen the knowledge of this prison opened in La Savina between 1940 and 1942 under Franco. Its author, Manuel Suárez Salvà, has extensive experience in the study of repression during the dictatorship as well as in works on historical memory in the Balearic Islands.
