Island steps up repairs across rural roads

Foto arranjament camins 2017The Council's infrastructure department reports that persistent rain this winter and a technical failure limited work crews' regular maintenance operations.

In an attempt to re-establish the normal pace of work and restore country roads battered by recent months' precipitation, the administration has spent €27,000 (VAT not included) bringing in an outside firm to assist the CiF maintenance brigade. Council officials say they hope the extra manpower will help bring the country roads —most of which are on the island's network of nature trails and heavily travelled— up to scratch in time for summer.

This week crews are working to refurbish roads in Migjorn.
