Formentera families and students learn to prevent screen addiction

foto 2023iv pantallesThe Office of Social Welfare of the Consell de Formentera is spearheading various actions at local schools as part of the island's plan on substances, screens and games.

Last week families of zero- to three-year-olds at Sa Miranda and Sant Ferran nurseries, as well as those of zero- to six-year-olds at Virgen Milagrosa school, were invited to a newly launched series of talks. Plans are in place to hold these workshops in the island's early childhood education centres as well. Participants explore possible consequences of screen use and receive tools to make sure screen-equipped devices are used properly.

Years one and three at Marc Ferrer secondary school have already taken part in 50-minute workshops on critical thinking and screens.

The next instalment of Talks for Families and Teachers (Xerrades per a families i docents) will also centre on screens. Marta Prada, family educator of positive discipline and Montessori guide, will discuss "Educating without screens", 20 April at 5.00pm in the Consell de Formentera plenary hall (sala de plens).
