The Office of Rural Environment of the Consell de Formentera will offer €15,000 in subsidies for food purchased for sheep and goats on the island. This aid will be given to Formentera's agricultural co-operative, La Cooperativa del Camp, which will distribute 17 tonnes of maintenance feed and 6 tons of chopped carob for sheep and goats, as well as 5 tons of barley flour to feed local pigs.

Josep Marí, rural environment councillor, described it as "one more aid to further enhance Formentera's primary sector". "Once again, we want to offer this aid to the island's ranchers to offset the effects of insufficient rainfall, including the lack of livestock feed", he specified.

Parties interested in receiving this aid should visit the Cooperativa del Camp warehouse with their animal health documentation, or cartilla ramadera, from Monday 15 May. The warehouse is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 2.00pm and 4.30pm to 7.00pm and Saturdays, 9.00am to 1.00pm. Aid is given based on the number of animals.
