Fundació la Caixa and CaixaBank contributed €19,420 to purchase of the €27,758 Renault Traffic nine-seater van.

Councillor of sport Paula Ferrer said that one of local government’s top priorities is “making CENF and nautical sports accessible for people likely to face accessibility challenges”. The van will accommodate islanders at Formentera’s adult day care facility, individuals vulnerable to social exclusion and schoolchildren, among others. The van will also be used for regattas on other islands, providing a means to transport for people and gear and enabling young athletes to continue training, experimenting and honing their competitive sailing chops”, the councillor pointed out.

Collaboration between the Consell de Formentera and Obra Social la Caixa began in 2017 when the two entities teamed up to help the CENF purchase a 12-seater Cyclone. Specially tailored for riders with reduced mobility, the accessible watercraft is being used today by islanders at the Formentera Day Centre and students at the CENF.
