foto 2021 formen zenThis weekend 200 people took part in Formentera Zen on Cala Saona beach, where attendees tapped into the unique spirit of the island from the water’s edge.

From Friday to Sunday (24–26 September), the seventh Formentera Zen focused on holistic wellness and featured master classes, workshops and lectures on dermatology, cosmetics, beauty, psychology, psychiatry, scientific and wellness dissemination, nutrition, batch cooking, health at home, physical exercise, yoga and more.

President and Councillor of Tourism Alejandra Ferrer was in charge of closing the event and welcomed participants’ positive feedback about the Consell-sponsored event overseen by Puro Bienestar. “Events like these are about giving our visitors and residents a space to reconnect body and mind”, she offered, underscoring Formentera’s association with physical and emotional well-being and remarking that Formentera Zen’s place at the end of the summer calendar was an “added bonus”.

Capacity at Formentera Zen 2021 was limited per current COVID-19 constraints. Organisers assert the island’s light, silence and natural beauty make it a unique and incomparable backdrop for experiences in health, wellbeing and happiness. Just like last year, the 2021 Formentera Zen will be held in full compliance with health and safety measures in force at the time of the event.

Organiser Francesc Fàbregas said the festival’s 2021 edition, its ninth, marked a “renewed commitment to diversity in programming”, which he framed as “creating a space to promote and showcase the richness of Spain’s contemporary visual culture”.

Few spots remain, and the Consell de Formentera president and tourism chief Alejandra Ferrer has encouraged any local adepts of photography not yet registered to sign up. Residents of Formentera pay half price.

Ferrer insisted that in terms of idyllic backdrops for photos, it doesn’t get much better than Formentera. Plus she highlighted the “respectful” brand of tourists that the October event draws, asserting that FF attendees “appreciate our idiosyncrasies and do their part to spread the word”.

Sponsored by the Consell de Formentera and brought to life under the direction of Francesc Fàbregas, Formentera Fotogràfica is envisaged as place where collective learning, reflection and creation mobilised through a mix of intimate sessions, both hands-on and theory-driven, led by prominent voices in contemporary photography and visual culture. Formentera Zen returns in late September to reconnect participants, body and mind

foto 2021 formentera zenThe Formentera Office of Tourism is pleased to announce that from 24 to 26 September the seventh Formentera Zen will take place on the island. Dedicated to holistic wellness, the programme of master classes, workshops and talks focuses on dermatology, cosmetics, beauty, psychology, psychiatry, science and wellness, nutrition, batch cooking, wellness at home, exercise, yoga and more.

Formentera has hosted the Puro Benestar-organised event seven years, said president and tourism chief Alejandra Ferrer, who insisted the aim was to give residents and visitors “a space to reconnect body and mind”. She also asserted it had become “an end-of-season filip for tourism” and a “natural fit for an island so intimately associated with health and physical and emotional wellness”.

The number of participants at this year’s Formentera Zen will be limited based on Covid constraints in force when the event is held. Capacity has been set at 150, with two-thirds of available spaces already claimed. Signups can be completed at www.formenterazen.es, where visitors can also find complete details on the programme and speakers. Formentera residents get 50% off the normal price.

Organisers say Formentera’s light, tranquility and beauty make it a unique and incomparable backdrop to experience health, wellbeing and happiness. As in 2020, complete health and safety protocol will be enforced at the event.

Formentera unveils info-packed map of Es Pujols

foto 2021 mapa es pujolsBThe Formentera Office of Tourism has put together an information-enhanced map of the town of Es Pujols, an effort which the island’s president and tourism chief, Alejandra Ferrer, traced to area business owners and their push for a graphic display to highlight new developments like traffic flow changes and other information of interest to visitors.

The map gives prominence to the town’s major tourist draws, such as the dry docks, beach, waterfront promenade with market and Plaça d’Europa, where passersby can enjoy musical entertainment on many summer nights. Other sites of interest include the pharmacy, children’s play area and Tourist Info Point, where the maps will be distributed. They can also be found on the FOT website, www.formentera.es.

In addition to up-to-date general interest information, a special section points up traffic flow changes on Avinguda Miramar, from its junction with Carrer Espalmador to the water, and on Carrer Punta Prima, between Avinguda Miramar and Carrer Xaloc. Both arterials are reserved for pedestrians between 8.00pm and 7.00am.

President Ferrer said that local government hoped changes to the town’s layout would “deliver a boost to business activity and ensure both islanders and visitors can enjoy everything Es Pujols has to offer”.
