Call for volunteers at Formentera Half Marathon

The race will be held Saturday afternoon and volunteers will man aid stations, hand out medals and provide assistance at the finish line. Interested parties can sign up at the Antoni Blanc Sports Centre between 8.00am and 9.30pm.

Formentera Office of Sport brings back handbook of sports camps and clubs

cartell 2021 activatThis 2021/22, the second edition of the Formentera Office of Sport-produced “Activa't” not only offers islanders a round-up of camps focused on everything from archery and swimming to athletics, tennis and sailing, it functions as a one-stop source of information about Formentera’s 14 sports clubs and how to contact them. A thousand paper copies have been printed and are available at municipal sports facilities, while a digital version of the document can be found on the Consell de Formentera website and at Esports Formentera on Facebook.

Formentera residents have till 20 Sept. to register for half-marathon

Athletes who reside on the island and wish to take part in the twelfth Formentera Half Marathon or ninth Sant Ferran-to-La Savina Fun Run have until midnight on Monday 20 September to sign up. The events will take place 9 October and are organised by the Consell de Formentera and Unisport Consulting.

Interested parties should send an email to info@unisportconsulting.com and include their given/family name, a copy of government-issued ID and proof of residence on Formentera. Runners should also note whether they intend to take part in the 21K or 8K race.

Municipal sports camps 2021-22

foto 2021 piscinaThe Formentera Office of Sports is pleased to announce a host of camps in areas like swimming, athletics, tennis, archery and sailing that will take place this October in municipal buildings. Designed to accompany young ones as they discover the world of sport or enhance their technical prowess, the camps exist thanks to partnership agreements between the Consell de Formentera and various hometown sports clubs.

Tennis camp:
Ages: 4 and up
Signups: From 16 August
Payment: Antoni Blanc Sports Centre (Poliesportiu Antoni Blanc)
Start: Monday 4 October
Days/times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
Level: beginners, advanced and competition

Swim camp:
Ages: 3 to 16
Signups: Early signups from 13 September via OVAC and OAC; confirmation call from Antoni Blanc Sports Centre
Payment: Antoni Blanc Sports Centre
Placement tests: From 1 September
Start (all categories): Monday 4 October
Days/times: Monday/Wednesday | Tuesday/Thursday | Friday — 4.00pm, 5.15pm and 6.30pm

Sailing camp:
Ages: 5 and up / summer courses [sailing]
Ages: 7 and up / summer courses [windsurfing]
Signups: From Thursday 2 September at Formentera Nautical Sports Center (Centre d’Esports Nàutics de Formentera)
Days/times vary based on group/level and summer instruction

Archery camp:
Ages: 7 and up
Signups: From Monday 16 August at Antoni Blanc Sports Centre
Start (all categories): 5 October
Days/times: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.45pm to 6.00pm

Athletics camp:
Ages: 5 and up
Signups: Athletics track
Payment: Antoni Blanc Sports Centre
Start: 4 October (for participants born 2009, start is 1 September)
Days/times:
- Birth year 2009: 5.00pm to 6.30pm (Mon./Wed./Fri.)
- Birth year 2010-2013: 5.00pm to 6.30pm (Mon./Tue./Wed.)
- Birth year 2014-2016: 4.30pm to 5.30pm, Mon./Tue./Wed.

Reception for Mateo Sanz

Consell de Formentera president Alejandra Ferrer held a reception for Mateo Sanz Lanz to congratulate the local windsurfer on his recent Olympic diploma in the RS:X sailing class at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

At the gathering, which saw the participation of Vice-President Ana Juan and Councillor of Sport Paula Ferrer too, President Ferrer gave Sanz a jewel with a silhouette of the island’s skyline as a symbol of Sanz’s stellar representation of Formentera in Tokyo. The officials wished Sanz success in his future sporting challenges.
