Windsurfing school to reopen next week after latest round of Covid-19 tests on instructors and students comes back negative

The Formentera Department of Sport reports that the windsurfing school, the Escola de Vela, will open doors anew on Monday after recent days’ PCR testing confirmed that approximately eighty students and staff at the nautical sports centre did not have Covid-19. The results were communicated to the Consell de Formentera by the office of the Eivissa-Formentera Health Department that is in charge of Covid-19 case coordination.

News that first one student and then three others and an instructor had tested positive forced the Escola de Vela’s closure last week. The Consell responded by immediately contacting the regional health authority to enact preventive measures mandated by public health protocol.

Targeted operations will ensure that the centre’s facilities and gear are deep cleaned and sanitised this week before classes resume on Monday. The Escola de Vela is currently reaching out to students who wish to make up missed lessons.
