Maurizio Lamberti displays photos at Sala d'Exposicions "Ajuntament Vell"

The Formentera Office of Culture is pleased to report that from 19 to 30 April the Sala d'Exposicions "Ajuntament Vell" will host "Dualislad" by Formentera resident Maurizio Lamberti.

For Lamberti, "Dualislad" expresses the idea of uniting two different visions of the same reality. The photographs in some works are readily distinguishable, while in others, a more careful eye is required to pick out the distinct points of view and motifs. In this way, Lamberti pieces together our island like the pieces of a puzzle. As the artist comments, "These not so visible parts contribute to the uniqueness of the island".

The exhibition, Lamberti's first in 2022 to feature photographs, shows a different view of Formentera through multiple overlapping images. In this way, through varying opacities in the same photograph, we can see a new context with some motifs recognisable to all.

The exhibition opens its doors on Tuesday 19 April at 6.00pm. "Dualislad" will remain on view until 30 April at the Sala d'Exposicions "Ajuntament Vell", Monday to Saturday from 11.00am to 2.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

The exhibition space will be closed Sundays, bank holidays and Monday mornings.

Formentera associations will choose from among 20 projects for participatory budgets of 2022

foto 2022 pressu parti BAt 7.30pm yesterday, attendees of the second meeting on participatory budgets in 2022 reviewed the list of the projects that have been presented. All told, 35 projects were reviewed, 13 from among the projects presented in 2022 and 22 from those projects which were interrupted in 2020 due to COVID-19. Of the 35 projects, four from 2022 and eleven from 2020 were not voted on because they are either already being implemented in other ways or are not viable for a participatory spending initiative. In the end, therefore, local associations must choose from among 20 proposals.

Ana Juan, President of the Consell de Formentera, praised "the broad participation of all associations that have submitted projects" and encouraged them to "relay the proposals to their associates and vote for those that best suit their preferences".

The Consell de Formentera has set aside €325,000 to develop the projects that the associations rank the highest. Vanessa Parellada, Councillor of Citizen Participation, stressed that most of the projects "deal with sustainability, youth, sports or health - proof that Formentera's associations are concerned with the good of society as a whole". Associations have two weeks from today to cast their votes. The related form is available online and must be filled out and submitted to the OAC or OVAC.

Voting ends on 26 April 2022. The results of the vote will be presented at the final session of Pressupostos Participatius 2022, to be held in the days ahead.

Tender of concessions to operate seasonal beach services

The Consell de Formentera reports that the process of awarding the tender for seasonal services on Formentera beaches is being conducted in line with the current regulations. All public tenders carried out by the Administration are governed by Law 9/2017 on Public Administration Contracts, which reflects the principles of the Treaty of the European Union and Directive 2004/18/EC. The manifest principles of these regulations are free competition, freedom of access, transparent and openly published proceedings and equal treatment.

The Consell wishes to note that awards of public tender are governed by the principles set out in the established technical and administrative specifications, and current proceedings have not been subject to any challenges.

As for the weight of bidders' financial means in the awarding contest, the Consell notes that in the specific case of beach kiosks, the economic offer accounts for no more than 35% of a maximum 100 points, while technical characteristics account for 25% and improvements in the environmental management of the service, 40%. In this regard, improvements may be introduced in the environmental and social aspects of the facilities (materials, use of renewable energy, water tanks...) as well as improvements in gender equality, safety and hygiene, and more. Likewise, the entirety of bidders have presented closed price lists that must be respected. In each case, these stipulate that half-litre bottles of water will cost €1. All these measures are taken to preserve the kiosk beach bar model.

As for the financial bids submitted, the Consell notes that, as stipulated by law, bids cannot be limited and financial claims must be accompanied by a report demonstrating bids' financial viability. In this regard, the government commission urges the contracting board to review the economic feasibility reports of each bid and to request a record of actual ownership from bidding companies.

Finally, the administration wishes to acknowledge the work of municipal technicians and their independence throughout the administrative process. We also wish to thank the individuals who have run Formentera's beach bars to date for the work they have done and the treatment they have given our island's visitors and residents during all the years they have been in charge of these businesses.

Literary presentation at Marià Villangómez Library for Sant Jordi 2022

The Formentera Office of Culture is pleased to report that this April, Marià Villangómez Library has scheduled a book presentation for the Diada de Sant Jordi 2022.

Author Lluís Ferrer will present his book Cómics y censura: De Wonderwoman a Charlie Hebdo at 7.00pm next Thursday 21 April. He will be accompanied by Maite Ferrer. Born in Cala Mestella in 1971, Lluís Ferrer is one of the most prestigious writers, essayists and screenwriters of our time. The writer says that this book reflects the censorship that has always been present in comics, from the 1930s to date. The most recent example of this censorship involved one of the final issues of the Marvel Comics-published series Conan, for which the author drew a young woman in a bikini which was altered for a dress that has nothing to do with the original image.

Cómics y censura was inspired by lectures that Ferrer gave last year, one of which was held at Marià Villangómez Library in December. In addition to the subject matter covered in the lectures, the book includes covers, illustrations and documents of censorship, among other novelties.
