Diana Bustamante's "Des de la mar" settles in at "Ajuntament Vell"

The Formentera Office of Culture is pleased to report that "Ajuntament Vell" exhibition space will welcome Diana Bustamante's "Des de la mar" between 1 and 11 June.

After a string of runs in nine cities, including Eivissa and Dènia, since 3 July 2020, this travelling display will land on the island of Formentera to spotlight coastal Mediterranean landscapes and the occasional scene from the Atlantic shores of Galicia. Featured locations such as Ses Illetes, Es Vedrà, Dalt Vila and Benirràs are well known to residents of the Pine Islands.

In her paintings, Bustamante tackles abstract expressionism with a voice all her own by synthesising forms with distinctly Mediterranean, luminous chromatics of greens, blues and earth tones. Her hallmark vision leaves visitors of the exhibition dreaming of landscapes, the sea and its surroundings.

The Madrid-born artist with a degree in fine arts lives in Santa Eulària des Riu, where she grew up. Coastal landscapes, halfway between abstract painting and eastern-inspired figuration, have anchored Bustamante's studies.

The exhibition will open at 8.00pm on Tuesday 31 May. "Ajuntament Vell" exhibition space is open from 11.00am to 2.00pm and 7.00pm to 9.00pm, Monday to Saturday.

The gallery is closed on Sundays, holidays and Monday mornings.
