Beni Trutmann Photo Contest

Beni TrutmannCulture area of Formentera Island Council announces the Beni Trutmann Photography Contest in order to acquire a commitment to nature and environmental protection. With this annual photography contest that bears his name, Formentera Island Council, aims to keep the memory alive. Those who choose to be submitted to this contest are facing the challenge of approaching the work and example taht Beni Trutmann left to future generations.

Biography:
Werner Karl Thomas Trutmann, known by all with the name of Beni, was born on November 26, 1935 in Locarno, Switzerland. He studied at the School of Arts in Zurich, where he revealed his passion for photography. At 22 he traveled to Paris to work as assistant to the photographer Harry Meerson, and two years later become independent as a professional photographer. Visited Formentera in 1958, where he discovered a passion of his life.
We can divide his career into two periods: the era of advertising, which from 1965 to 1984, period of maturity and humanism, between 1985 and 1995.

Beni Trutmann and Formentera:
Madly in love with this island, the city feels, he continued to photograph for 44 years leaving a legacy of more than 30,000 photographs. To him it was important to preserve cultural heritage for future generations, was concerned about urban change, so he put his talents to the GOB environmental association. His photographic works supported the exhibition "Beauty and the destruction of an island" organized in Formentera.
Werner Karl died at home in her Mola on 28 April 2002.

Conditions of Entry:
1 .- The theme is the nature of Formentera in all areas: landscape, wildlife, vegetation, man-nature relationship, etc.
2 .- The photographs must be original and may not have been awarded in other competitions.
3 .- There are two categories:
- Black and white photography (analog or digital)
- Photo Color (analog or digital)
4 .- The photographic image is in color or black and white on paper and unmounted will have a minimum size of 20cm wide and up to 40cm long, the formats are, square, digital, classic and panoramic. Each author may submit up to three photos.
5 .- In the category of digital photography allows you to modify the tonal values, saturation, brightness, contrast, levels and curves, but not admit any other manipulation.
6 .- The photographs may be submitted at the Consell Insular de Formentera, accompanied by a plain envelope inside which contained the name and surname, address, email address and a contact telephone number, This envelope will be opened only in the case winning contestants. Anonymity will be secured by a serial number registration to be given to the contestant with the registry, so the blank on the back of the pictures and the receipt will have the same number for the author to recover those pictures .
7 .- The two envelopes may also be presented by certified mail to Consell Insular de Formentera, Plaza de la Constitución, 1, 07860 Sant Francesc Xavier, Formentera. In this case, the data on the competitor must wear an escrow that permits identification of the participant.
8 .- Prizes are as follows:
- 1 st prize in each category: 500 €
- 2 nd prize in each category: 300 €
- 3 rd prize in each category: 200 €
9 The jury will consist of the following: A representative of the GOB of Formentera. A representative of the Obra Cultural Balear de Formentera. Three persons of recognized experience in the visual arts in the presence of the Minister of Culture of the Consell Insular de Formentera, as president and will have no voice or vote.
10 .- The jury will meet during the month of April. Their verdict is final and will be made public.
11 .- The awards will be April 28, yielding, in this way, a tribute to the photographer who gave us eight years ago.
12 .- The prize can be awarded if the jury finds that none of the books have enough quality. The jury also reserves the right to apply ex aequo.
13 .- The winning works will be held Formentera Island Council that may be used in any form it considers suitable graphics (posters, billboards, Internet, etc.).
14 .- Formentera Island Council reserves the exclusive right to exhibit a selection of works from participants. The photographs were exhibited at the Municipal Exhibition Hall in May.
15 .- The photographs on display will be returned assembled and all pieces may be passed to collect from the Consell Insular de Formentera, if not collected by the author will be considered abandoned, and Formentera Island Council may make a non-profit use.
